The story

More than an event — a chance to put science into practice.

Members used a morning meeting to build graham cracker houses, mixing creativity, structure, and chapter community into a short engineering-style challenge.

Why we did it

To strengthen chapter community while giving members a light, hands-on way to practice planning, structure, and iteration before the school day.

What participants did

Students worked with simple materials to build graham cracker houses, balancing creativity with structural stability. The activity encouraged collaboration, quick decisions, and a relaxed chapter atmosphere.

In the room

What the work looked like.

Each activity connected a visible, hands-on task to the scientific thinking behind it.

01

Stability and design

Structure build

Members assembled graham cracker houses and adjusted their designs as materials shifted or structures failed.

02

Creative problem-solving

Team collaboration

Small groups made quick decisions, divided tasks, and helped each other improve their builds.

Highlights

What stood out.

  1. 01Members turned a morning meeting into a creative build challenge.
  2. 02Teams balanced structure, design, and limited time.
  3. 03The activity gave students a relaxed way to collaborate before school.
  4. 04The meeting connected engineering habits with a seasonal chapter tradition.

What we learned

Every event leaves a better playbook.
