Privacy Notice

What this chapter site collects, what it deliberately does not collect, and how to raise a privacy or photo concern.

Effective and last updated August 1, 2026

01

Scope

This notice applies to this Center Grove High School Science National Honor Society chapter website. It does not govern websites or services operated by Center Grove Community School Corporation, SNHS National, Vercel, an email provider, or another linked organization.

The site is primarily an informational record of chapter activities. It currently has no user accounts, on-site contact forms, event-registration forms, advertising, or payment processing. The Science NHS Journal links to a separate Google Form for voluntary community submissions.

02

Information we handle

Information you choose to send. Selecting an email link opens your own email service. The website does not receive the message, but the chapter advisor and the relevant school email systems will receive the information you include.

Journal submissions. Selecting “Submit to the Journal” opens a Google Form operated outside this website. The form may ask for project details and the information needed for editorial review. Google and applicable school systems, rather than this public website, process the form response.

Anonymous site measurements. On Vercel deployments, Vercel Web Analytics records aggregated page-visit details such as the page, referrer, general location, browser, operating system, device type, and time. Vercel Speed Insights records similar device and route details with web-performance measurements. Vercel states that these products do not associate measurements with an individual visitor or IP address and do not reconstruct a browsing session across pages.

Hosting and security data. Like most hosting providers, Vercel may process standard request and diagnostic data to deliver, secure, and maintain the site. Vercel’s own terms and privacy notice govern its processing.

03

How information is used

Information is used only as reasonably necessary to:

  • respond to questions, partnership requests, or photo concerns;
  • review, edit, and—when approved—publish voluntary Journal submissions;
  • understand which public pages are useful;
  • measure and improve site accessibility, speed, and reliability;
  • prevent abuse, investigate technical problems, and protect the site; and
  • comply with applicable school policies or legal obligations.

The chapter does not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

04

When information may be shared

Information may be handled by Vercel as the site’s hosting, analytics, and performance provider. Email communications may be handled by Center Grove’s email and technology providers and shared with appropriate school personnel when needed to respond.

Journal form responses may be handled by Google and reviewed by authorized Science NHS editors or appropriate school personnel. Only approved public byline and project information should be transferred to the public Journal database.

Information may also be disclosed when required by law, necessary to protect safety or the integrity of the site, or submitted with your direction or consent. Messages sent to a public-school email account may be subject to applicable district retention policies and public records requirements.

05

Children, students, and event photos

This is a general-audience chapter information site and is not designed to collect personal information from children under 13 directly on the website. A child under 13 should not email personal information or complete the linked Journal submission form without a parent, guardian, or supervising educator. If you believe a child has sent personal information, contact the advisor so the matter can be reviewed.

The site includes photographs from chapter and community events. The chapter seeks to use images consistently with applicable school permissions and to avoid identifying younger children. If you are pictured, or you are the parent or guardian of someone pictured, you may request review, correction, or removal by identifying the page and image in an email to amilligan@centergrove.k12.in.us.

06

Cookies and tracking choices

The site does not currently use advertising cookies. Vercel states that its Web Analytics product provides anonymous, aggregated measurements without third-party cookies. Because the current site does not use nonessential cookies, it does not display a cookie-consent banner.

Browser privacy tools or content blockers may block analytics without preventing ordinary access to the site. If the chapter later adds a tool that uses nonessential cookies or collects additional personal information, this notice and any required consent controls should be updated before that tool launches.

07

Retention and security

The website does not maintain a separate contact database. Email is retained under normal school mailbox practices and any applicable district record-retention requirements. Aggregated analytics and technical data are retained according to Vercel’s settings and policies. Journal form responses are retained according to the form owner’s Google Workspace settings and applicable school practices.

Reasonable steps are used to limit collection and protect the site, but no internet transmission, email system, or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure. Do not send payment-card numbers, government identifiers, medical information, or other sensitive information by email.

08

Your choices and questions

You may ask what information the chapter has received from you by email, request a correction or deletion where appropriate, or raise a concern about a photograph. Some records may need to be retained when required by law or school policy.

Contact Ms. Alisha Milligan at amilligan@centergrove.k12.in.us. You may also review the Center Grove privacy policy, Vercel Web Analytics privacy documentation, and Vercel Speed Insights privacy documentation.

This notice may change as the site’s features or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top will be revised when a material update is published.
