Scope
This notice applies to this Center Grove High School Science National Honor Society chapter website. It does not govern websites or services operated by Center Grove Community School Corporation, SNHS National, Vercel, Resend, Google, or another linked organization.
The site is primarily an informational record of chapter activities. It has no user accounts, event-registration forms, advertising, or payment processing. It offers an optional monthly newsletter. Journal and Spotlight pages link to separate Google Forms for voluntary submissions and nominations.
Information we handle
Email you choose to send. Selecting an email link opens your email service. The chapter advisors and applicable school email systems receive whatever information you include.
Journal and Spotlight forms. Selecting a submission or nomination link opens a Google Form outside this website. Google, the form owner, and applicable school systems process the response. A Journal form may require Google sign-in. The forms may request the project or nomination details needed for editorial review.
Newsletter signup. Resend stores the email address you provide and manages subscription status. The form does not ask for a name, school, grade, or profile. Before confirmation, the address is placed in an encrypted link that expires after 24 hours. Resend may process delivery, bounce, unsubscribe, and, if enabled in the chapter's Resend settings, email-open or link-click events.
Abuse prevention. Newsletter requests are limited using keyed hashes derived from the submitted email address and a trusted request address supplied by the hosting platform. The raw request address and email are not stored in the rate-limit table.
Browser storage. After the newsletter invitation is dismissed or a signup succeeds, the site saves that choice in local storage so it does not keep showing the invitation. The value contains no email address and is not sent with ordinary page requests.
Site measurements. On Vercel deployments, Web Analytics records page, referrer, general location, browser, operating system, device, and time details. Speed Insights records similar route and device details with performance measurements. Vercel says it does not store visitor IP addresses, derives privacy-preserving identifiers from request data, and discards those identifiers within 24 hours. The chapter receives aggregated reports.
Hosting and security data. Vercel may process standard request and diagnostic data to deliver, secure, and maintain the site. Vercel's terms and privacy notice govern that processing.
How information is used
Information is used only as reasonably necessary to:
- respond to questions, partnership requests, or photo concerns;
- review, edit, and, when approved, publish voluntary submissions;
- send the requested newsletter and process unsubscribes;
- understand which public pages are useful;
- improve accessibility, speed, and reliability;
- prevent abuse and investigate technical problems; and
- comply with school policies or legal obligations.
The chapter does not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Children, students, and event photos
This is a general-audience chapter information site. You must be at least 13 to subscribe directly. A child under 13 should ask a parent, guardian, or supervising educator to contact an advisor instead of entering personal information in the newsletter, email, Journal, or Spotlight forms. Contact an advisor if you believe a child submitted personal information so it can be reviewed and deleted where appropriate.
The site includes chapter and community-event photographs. The chapter seeks to use images consistently with school permissions and to avoid identifying younger children. A pictured person, parent, or guardian may request review, correction, or removal by identifying the page and image in an email to Ms. Alisha Milligan at amilligan@centergrove.k12.in.us or Mrs. Amy Ho at hoa@centergrove.k12.in.us.
Retention and security
Newsletter subscriptions remain active until the subscriber unsubscribes or asks an advisor for removal. Resend may keep an unsubscribed address on a suppression list to honor that choice. Confirmation links expire after 24 hours. Rate-limit records expire after 10 minutes and are deleted during later signup activity and by a scheduled daily cleanup.
Other email follows school mailbox and district retention practices. Vercel retains analytics and technical data under its settings and policies. Google Form responses follow the form owner's Workspace settings and applicable school practices.
Reasonable safeguards limit collection and protect the site, but no internet or storage method is completely secure. Do not email payment card numbers, government identifiers, medical information, or other sensitive information.
Your choices and questions
Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link. You may ask what information the chapter received from you, request correction or deletion where appropriate, or raise a photo concern. Some records may be retained when required by law, school policy, or to honor an unsubscribe request.
