Science NHS Egg Drop

During the 2024–2025 school year, members of the Science National Honor Society (SNHS) put their physics and engineering skills to the test in an annual egg drop challenge. Participants engineered and built custom protective contraptions designed to withstand high-impact falls, gathering at the band tower to put their designs to the ultimate test.

The story

More than an event — a chance to put science into practice.

An engineering challenge hosted by SNHS where members designed protective contraptions for eggs and tested them by dropping them from the band tower.

Why we did it

To foster collaborative problem-solving, applied physics knowledge, and creative engineering among society members through an exciting, high-stakes egg survival challenge.

What participants did

Enjoy a collaborative engineering challenge led by CGHS Science National Honor Society members, where students work in teams to design, build, and test protective contraptions for a high-stakes egg drop from the band tower. Each design tackles physics and mechanics concepts to keep the egg safe—encouraging teamwork, innovation, problem-solving, and discovery in a fun, engaging way designed for members.
